Every tree we see around us began as a seedling. No tree ever appeared suddenly from the sky or burst forth out of the blues. Every tree we see today was a conscious planting of some seedlings some time in the past. The Bible refers to us (who have received New Birth in Christ Jesus) metaphorically as 'Trees of Righteousness.
"... that they might be called trees of righteousness"- Isaiah 61:3
So as Trees of Righteousness, we did not automatically become righteous from birth (i.e. from our mother's womb).
"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one"- Romans 3:10
We became righteous by the conscious work of God in our lives. We became righteous When God planted the seed of righteousness in us through New birth in Christ Jesus.
"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."- 2 Corinthians 5:21
“I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles,"- Isaiah 42:6 (NIV)
Plantings of the Lord
Everyone that is born again is a planting of the Lord. We are a choice vine planted in a most fruitful hill- The vineyard of the Lord.
"Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?" Jeremiah 2:21
It is only the plantings of God that can bear good fruits. If you have been planted by the Lord as a tree of righteousness, then you are meant to produce good fruits because the seed of God is in you.
"Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God."- 1John3:9
God planted us in this world for a purpose and that is to bear good fruits and replenish the earth with a people that bear God's seed (nature) in them. To produce fruits of righteousness
"You did not choose me. I chose you and sent you out to produce fruit, the kind of fruit that will last."- John 15:16 (CEV)
Let us therefore be warned that as tree of righteousness, plantings of the Lord; we cannot afford to bring forth bad, corrupt, wild and evil fruits. We must bring forth good fruits after the order of our Lord Jesus.
"And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire."- Matthew 3:10
So we must receive every spiritual nourishment that God has made available to us, so that we can grow well and bring forth good fruits. Our roots must spread and go deep down in Christ Jesus by seeking the Lord and abiding in His presence. By living in His grace and mercy; and living by the power of His Holy Spirit in us, so that we can always bear fruits of righteousness.
"Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God."- Philippians 1:11
