The Act of Obedience
Obedience is in the doing, not in the saying. You profess obedience, not just confess it; you do obedience, not just mouth obedience.
These people draw near Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts hold off and are far away from Me.-Matthew 15:8
Obedience is not paying lip-service to God, but acting in accordance to His word and instructions. Obedience is so key in life that the first miracle ever recorded and performed by Jesus was drawn out of obedience.
Jesus had attended a wedding party as a guest with His mother and disciples, and suddenly the host ran out of wine. Jesus' mother asked Him to do something about the lack of wine as if He were the host. Jesus gave the servants an apparently crazy and stupid instruction. Had they not obeyed and carried out Jesus' seemingly stupid instruction through the intervention of Mary, who knows...? You would be right to say that, obedience facilitated the miracle (turning water into wine).
His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it." Jesus said to them, "Fill the waterpots with water." So they filled them up to the brim.- John 2:5,7
In your Obedience lies your miracle;
In your Obedience lies your victory;
In your Obedience lies your Breakthrough;
A man had two sons and he gave them instructions to go and work in his vineyard. And off they went with the older son saying no, I would not obey, but later changed his mind and went to work in the vineyard. Whilst the younger son said yes I will go and work in the vineyard but didn't go and refused to carry out the father's instruction. Here's the question: who was truly obedient to the father? (See Matthew 21:28-32)
That is why the scripture says:
What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.- 1 Samuel 15:22
The Lord is looking out for folks whose hearts are loyal and obedient to Him, that He might show Himself strong to them. For in obedience lies the answer to the bugging questions of life.
Just like a father delights and loves an obedient child and shower him/her with incredible gifts more than what he/she asks, expects or could imagine. Much more does the Lord delights in an obedient son, servant, friend, people and nation.
The LORD is constantly watching everyone, and he gives strength to those who faithfully obey him.- 2 Chronicles 16:9
Good piece...Not those who call me Lord ..but those who do the will of my Father..
