Grace- A Gift From God
As God's fellow workers we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain.- 2 Corinthians 6:1
A wise man once said: 'If purpose is not defined, abuse is inevitable.' In other words, if you do not know or are not conscious of the worth of a thing, abuse or misuse will become the order of the day.
If you have been saved, rescued and redeemed by the blood of the Lamb of God-Jesus Christ, you have received the outworking of the grace of God upon your life. A precious and priceless gift.
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.- Ephesians 2:8 (NLT)
Now that you have received this precious, great and inesteemable gift from God, you have to ensure and endeavour that this wonderful gift of God is not abused, misused or under-used in your life: That this gift is not in vain.
The outworking of the grace of God in your life is able to keep you from falling again and again into sin, it is able to give you the ability and enabling to produce the fruit of righteous living which comes from the seed of Christ and righteousness that was transplanted into you when you got saved.
For you cannot continue in sin (which is a gross abuse and spiritual disregard for the grace and love of God) and expect this precious gift of Grace to abound in your life.(See Romans 6:1).
In fact a habitual life of sin is rebellion and rejection of the outworking, flourishing and thriving of the grace of God which you received when you came into Christ.
You therefore have a responsibility to see to it that the grace of God that you have received in your life is not in vain.
That is why the Bible strongly admonishes us to continue to work out our salvation with fear and trembling.(Philippians 2:12).
