A Matter of The Heart
This is the sequel to the post I did last week on 'Prayer- A Continuous Exercise'. A wise man once said: the heart is battle-field of life. Indeed the heart is the powerhouse of man's existence.
Prayer is an issue of the heart, our hearts must be engaged in prayer in line with the will of God. If our prayers are not coming from the heart, they may not secure heaven's attention.
"...For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks."- Matthew 12:34
Our petition and request to the Lord in prayer must be heart-felt- emanating from the heart. Engaging our hearts fervently and earnestly in prayer- pouring our heart and soul out unto to the Lord.
"The hearts of the people cry out to the Lord. Arise, cry out in the night, ... pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord."- Lamentations 2:18-19
What comes out of your mouth when you lift your voice up to the Lord in prayer is an expression of the ardent desire, deepest wish and passionate cry of your heart- the travail of your soul.
There was the story of a woman in the Bible who engaged her heart fervently in prayer and afterwards obtained what she desired and petitioned the Lord for.
"Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard."- I samuel 1:13.
Hannah engaged her heart whilst praying to the Lord, she engaged her heart so much that the priest thought she was drunk. Listen to her reply to the priest:
“I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the LORD."- I samuel 1:15
She reached down to the depth of heart and poured out the travail of her soul unto the Lord and the Lord heard the deepest cry of her heart and granted her request by giving her a child-Samuel. The travail of her soul caused her to prevail in prayer.
It is the earnest, heart-felt prayer of a man or woman that avails much.
"...The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]."- James 5:16 (Amplified)
Scriptural passages taken from the New Internationl Version, unless stated otherwise.
this is wonderful! amen to that. God hears us when we pray and He is faithful to fulfill ALL is promises to us. praise God!

i agree with the last line here. prayer should really come from the heart and it shouldnt always be just supplications.
