The Act Vs The Person
It is very poignant to observe the events leading to the 2008 Lambeth Conference of the Anglican Communion commencing Wednesday July 16, 2008. The rift that the homosexuality issue is causing the Anglican Communion and the Universal Church.
I have heard Bishop Gene Robinson of New Hampshire, the main figure at the centre of the issue say time and again that his exclusion from the Lambeth Conference or condemnation of his practice of homosexuality is not demonstrative of the love of God expressed towards to all men.
God is love and His unconditional love is expressed to every man, woman, boy and girl in this world. He loves every gay and lesbian person, He doesn't wish that anybody should be excluded from His family, discriminated against and condemned.
"He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent."- 2 Peter 3:9
Let us get the issue straight here, it is Homosexuality Vs The Person. The truth is God loves every human being. He loves the gay, lesbian person, He loves Bishop Gene Robinson and other homosexuals.
The truth also is God clearly condemns the act of homosexuality. God detests the act of homosexuality, just as He detests the acts of fornication, adultery, incest. If God loves every man and woman, homosexuals or otherwise, we have no right to condemn any man, woman or homosexual; but if God hates and condemns that act of homosexuality, then we have the right to hate and condemn the act and pratice of homosexuality equally.
"...women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. ... men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved. Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too."- Romans 1:26-28, 32
"Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality,"- 1 Corinthians 6:9
The Bible clearly tells us that the act of homosexuality is a sin.
Its got nothing to do with homophobia, discrimination, gay-bashing and anti-gay sentiments.
"Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin."- Leviticus 18:22
The appeal is to all homosexuals to carefully ponder this, and desist from the Act and Practice of homosexuality. It is a choice, you can either choose to cease from this lifestyle or continue to indulge in it.
"God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor"- 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4
