It was a glorious night for English football and equally one of mixed emotions as the Champions League grand finale took centre stage at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow last night. It was an all English Club final for the first time in the history of European premier club competition.
English Club football was at its finest hour ever as Manchester United just crowned Champions of the Premier League over a week earlier took on a highly motivated and determined Chelsea side, which was hungry for arguably the highest prize in world Club football.
A tightly fought out match saw Christiano Ronaldo opened the score for United and Frank Lampard levelled the score for Chelsea before the half-time. The game ended with honours shared with the goals at 1-1 after 90 minutes of regulation time and 30 minutes of extra time.
Then came the agony of penalty shoot-out, which I firmly believe is always anyone's game at this point, because it could easily go either way.
But thankfully, it happened to be Manchester United's day in history as they won 6-5 on penalties in the early hours of the morning in Moscow. It was sheer joy and estacy of victory for Manchester United and agony of defeat for Chelsea.
This fairly balanced football match does show again the truth that in life, you & I & every human can definitely do with the 'Favour of God' (some understand it as luck) in our endeavours.
“...A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven."- John 3:27
Congratulations to Manchester United Football Club, its players, manager, staff, board and fans.
